Diversity & Inclusion

Partnerships with Professional Organizations

Google also supports the work of external organizations by partnering with them in the common goal of diversifying the fields in which we work, by bringing together thought leaders, conducting workshops, and providing networking and professional development opportunities.

One such organization is the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology. Google pays tribute to Dr. Borg’s vision of women in computer science by supporting the on-going work to increase women’s participation in the engineering field, and also to expand the scope and social impact of the engineering profession.

Google is also a major supporter and sponsor of the annual Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, which is the world’s largest gathering of technical women in computing. We are also proud supporters of Dr. Richard Tapia’s Celebration of Diversity in Computing, and partner at the local and national level with organizations such as National Society of Black Engineers, among others.

We play host to a variety of events on our campuses across the globe, from a Girl Geeks networking dinner in London to TechLeaders workshops in New York and California.

Google is also a strong supporter of more recent initiatives to diversify the fields of sales and advertising, including participating on the executive committee of AAF’s Mosaic Council, and major sponsorship of the 1st annual AdColor Awards that took place as part of ANA’s Multicultural Marketing Conference in 2007.

Other significant partnerships for fostering diversity across industries include Google’s ongoing work and support of organizations like INROADS, Leadership Education and Development (LEAD), and Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT).
