This GMC Jimmy (1970-1972) got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1972 GMC Jimmy was acquired by the owner in 2021 and subsequently refurbished and modified. Work consisted of removing the body from the chassis and refinishing both, re-trimming the interior, installing an aftermarket audio system, suspension, and brake components, and swapping in a 7.0-liter LS7 V8 linked with a 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission, an NP205 dual-range transfer case, and a rebuilt a Dana 44 front axle and a 12-bolt rear axle. The truck is finished in green over white and green plaid upholstery, and features include a white removable hardtop, a Holley fuel-injection system, Vintage Air climate control, Dakota Digital instrumentation, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, white 15″ steel wheels, a 2.5″ lift kit, Bilstein shock absorbers, Warn manually locking front hubs, LED exterior lighting, and a custom audio system. This modified Jimmy is now offered on dealer consignment with build records and a clean California title in the current owner’s name.

The truck was repainted in metallic green during the refurbishment. Details include a white removable hardtop, chrome bumpers and trim, faux woodgrain accents, dual side mirrors, Holley RetroBright LED headlights, LED taillights and marker lights, and dual exhaust outlets. Sheet metal repairs were performed prior to refinishing the truck.

White 15″ steel wheels wear GMC hubcaps and are mounted with 33×10.5″ BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A white-letter tires. The truck is equipped with power steering, a 2.5″ lift kit, Bilstein shock absorbers, Off Road Designs leaf springs, and Warn manually locking front hubs. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The front bucket seats and rear bench were reupholstered in white vinyl with green plaid inserts. Additional equipment includes green carpeting, faux woodgrain trim accents, a Vintage Air climate control system, lap belts, and a RetroSound digital stereo linked with a Rockford Fosgate amplifier, Hertz speakers and tweeters, and a rear-mounted Audison subwoofer.

The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a tilting column and frames Dakota Digital instruments including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, an electric clock, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer shows 222 miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The 7.0-liter LS7 V8 was converted to a wet-sump oiling system and was reportedly rebuilt prior to being installed under current ownership. Features include an Edelbrock intake manifold and fuel rails, a Holley Terminator X electronic fuel injection system and black serpentine drive system, Dirty Dingo engine mounts, GMC-branded coil covers, PerTronix ignition coils, and ceramic-coated Schoenfeld exhaust headers. A Boyd Welding aluminum fuel tank and an aluminum radiator with dual electric cooling fans have been fitted.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission, an NP205 dual-range transfer case, and a Dana 44 front axle and a 12-bolt rear axle with 3.73:1 limited-slip differentials. The transmission, transfer case, and axles are said to have been rebuilt during the refurbishment. A jet-coated dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers has been fitted.
