Swallowtail Chrysalises

It is often difficult to tell the difference between different species of Swallowtail chrysalises unless you raised it from a caterpillar.

Palamedes chrysalises. The brown one pupated on a brown leaf and the green one on a green leaf. After removing them from the popup habitat, where they were raised, we laid them on leaves to show how their colors blend in with the leaves.
