“she discussed her plans to have sexual reassignment surgery with a filmmaker friend, the two decided to document this challenging new time in her life. the documentary looks at Pejic’s childhood, raised by a single mum in a refugee camp, and her rise as a model, in which her androgynous fame put pressure on her to remain a boy. Andreja Pejic-Serbian born model age 23 underwent gender reassignment surgery in Jan 2014-she began her modelling career at 16 discovered while working at McDonald’s and quickly gained international recognition for her androgynous look.she has walked in both men’s and women’s shows for designers like Jean Paul Gaultier, Rick Owens and Thom Browne.

At first she took puberty -suppressing hormones -taken secretly but then bravely opened up and  went on to surgery.

“Society doesn’t tell you that you can be trans”- she says in a vogue interview ,she describes the distress she experienced living life as a young boy at school ,she had a fantasy of living life as a girl .now this year she will appear as a face of make up for ever ,making her one of the first transgender models to score as significant beauty campaign. she has taken the beauty industry by storm with the new transwomen campaign for cosmetics brand make up forever ,this is an amazing movement in history as i don’t think there are many transwomen as the face for /on a brand.

she has done what no other model has ever been able to :toe the line between male and female successfully for a long time ,Andreja had/has an extraordinary career as a male model,often modelling female clothes hopefully she has made people see things from a new ,different perspective.

why I see her as my muse is because I think she is very brave ,she is one of the first models to step forward and say she,s not comfortable in her own body and been open which I believe has given lots of young people the courage to also step forward that being if their born in the wrong body or being gay etc you should be able to live your life how you want without being judged and thats why i love people like Andreja Pejic and Iris Apfel as they are doing just that . Gender doesn’t matter ,she is still a person , a beautiful model that is now happy in her own skin ,i find her inspirational! i love people that can inspire ,be themselves and you should be happy no matter what.
