Famed actress, TV host, and boss of one of Malaysia’s largest hijab brands, Neelofa Noor, has decided to take her modest look up a notch by donning the face veil and is expected to do so in all future public appearances.
Also known as the niqab or the purdah, the 31-year-old fashion influencer debuted photos of herself donning the new accessory to her Instagram this week, and had gone on Instagram live earlier today to thank fans and friends for the overwhelming support.
“Thank you very much for all the positive messages and kind prayers. I can’t reply to all of them right now, there’s just too many,” she said while wearing a red and black niqab that matched her red dress.
The entrepreneur is behind the Naelofar hijab brand and also hosts her own talk show Next To Neelofa. She confirmed that she will don the face veil in subsequent episodes.
“Please pray for me, for I am a person who has made mistakes in the past. I will continue to improve myself. Pray for my new journey,” Neelofar wrote on Instagram yesterday. Among those who had filled the comments with well wishes was singer Siti Nurhaliza.
“All praise and thanks belong to Allah,” Siti wrote to Neelofar.
“You look sooooo beautiful lofa,” TV actress Ramona ZamZam said.
Other fans expressed admiration for Neelofa for taking the difficult step of covering up nearly her whole body although wearing the niqab is not compulsory under Malaysia’s Islamic laws.
“I admit that wearing purdah/niqab it’s not an easy journey, because she will change 100% of her appearance and that is not to show she is the best, but she is trying her best to be the best for Allah,” @Syuhailarahmat tweeted in a reply to one of Neelofa’s tweets.
Neelofa first donned the hijab in 2014 after being in show business for some time and has since been the popular face for hijab-wearing women. She has appeared in renowned fashion week events and lends her face to high-fashion brands. Her latest look comes amid rumours romantically linking her to Muslim preacher PU Riz.
