KTM Komuter train fares set to increase from Dec 2

KTM Komuter fares will increase from Dec 2.

KTM Bhd president Lt Kol (B) Sarbini Tijan was reported as saying that fares would now cost 4 sen more per kilometre (at 15 sen/km) for those travelling along the Tanjung Malim-Sungai Gadut and Batu Caves-Port Klang routes.

This fare increase is the first since a revision in Feb 2003.

Sarbini added that schoogoing children and teens as well as undergraduates will be able to enjoy half-price on tickets — a discount previously reserved for senior citizens, the disabled and children aged between two and six.

“To break even, we should be charging 20 sen for each kilometre. (However) the Government has only approved for the fares to be set at 15 sen per kilometre,” The Star Online quoted him as saying.
