Park Hae Young (Age 31) | Song Seung-heon
Diplomat, Grandson of Daehan Group’s Chairman

The only heir of Daehan Conglomerate Group, Korea’s greatest, biggest, and strongest corporation. And he is also flawless as if he was not already born with a perfect life. He is handsome, an ivy league graduate, and a diplomat. He was so proud of himself for following the principle of noblesse oblige when he agreed to his grandfather’s lifelong principle of not passing the company down to a family member without regret and became a diplomat. Who would have known his grandfather was so ruthless, though? He can pass the company onto someone else, but he needs to pass down some wealth, at least! As Daehan Group’s Chairman, his grandfather’s wealth can easily surpass the wealth of supposedly the wealthiest man in the world, the King of Brunei. But he is going to let go of all of that? Has he gone senile?

And the woman who made his grandfather give up his wealth and was voted by the nation as the princess is Lee Seol. The tacky-looking woman that giggled and asked for her receipt to enter a draw at a department store parking lot is now a princess? To make matters worse, the Korean president and his grandfather both beg Hae Young to be the princess’s personal tutor. How can the leaders of Korean politics and economy be so out of touch with the world? Of course, she needs to be sat down and taught something so she does not embarrass the country abroad, but like the princess she is, she rebels.

I must be going crazy, though. Watching her nose bleed as she memorizes the Times articles makes me want to tell her not to push herself too hard and let her sleep. What… is going on?

Lee Seol (Age 25) | Kim Tae-hee
Archaeological Art History Major at Seolim University

She has put her saddest birth secret and mean stepsister behind in the past and lives a busy life working part-time as a wedding photographer assistant in the morning and a school administrative assistant in the afternoon. Then, of course, there is also her archaeological theory class with the professor she has a crush on, in which she is busy shooting hearts out of her eyes. Needless to say, every day is busy and eventful for this adorable woman full of youth.

But one day, she hits the jackpot. She wakes up one morning and hears she has become Korea’s princess. The chairman of Korea’s greatest conglomerate, Daehan Group, invested all of his wealth, and 50,000,000 Korean citizens have lined up from early morning to vote for me to make me the princess. Not only that, handsome princes from all over the globe are sending congratulations. So, she decides she will sacrifice herself and accept her new life as the princess. But little did she know, she was lured into this when they took her, promising they would find her birth parents for her. Now, she is trapped in the palace and forced to study from early morning to late night to become a “princess.” She wants to scream…

But what is worse is that she only has one teacher teaching her, Officer Park Hae Young, the biggest show-off. Even the country’s president gave two thumbs-ups and agreed he was the best teacher, but that must be nonsense. Tell him to study with Mr. Park for just one hour. Is making a mistake on one WTO clause such a big deal?

Oh Yoon Ju (Age 30) | Park Ye-jin
Director of Haeyoung Museum

Her childhood nickname was “Princess.” Why? Because she was a pretty girl in pretty clothes living in a house as big as a palace. Everyone said she was a conglomerate chairman’s daughter. But she realized it was otherwise when she grew up. Her pretty clothes were samples from Daehan Textiles, the palace-like house was the chairman’s house, and she was not the daughter of a conglomerate chairman but of a conglomerate chairman’s assistant. Her father deserves half of the credit for Daehan Group’s success, but nothing she does can change her status as the assistant’s daughter. So, she has made up her mind. To make Hae Young, Chairman Park’s grandson, hers. And to make the Daehan Group hers.

But a princess appears out of nowhere, and Chairman donates all of his wealth to society for her. That tacky, thick-headed, and classless girl basically reset Yoon Ju’s life as she’d liked. And Hae Young is so close to falling for Yoon Ju when Yoon Ju notices Hae Young starting to grow fond of Lee Seol. How despicable.

And so, she plots something. If she succeeds, Korea will lose its royal family, and she…

Nam Jung Woo (Age 32) | Ryu Soo-young
Assistant Professor at the Department of Archaeological Art History at Seolim University

The professor teaching Lee Seol’s major. He has always been popular since his student days, and his beauty has not withered. So, he is called “Professor Idol,” as in a professor who could be a K-pop idol singer. He has the urge to dig every empty field and cannot pass by a rock without guessing its age. In other words, he is a born-to-be archaeologist and art history expert.

In the most cliché term, he is a self-made man that started from the bottom. So, he may have become a professor earlier than others, but his family history is not at all as glorious. Will saving his pay as an assistant professor ever get him enough to even afford digging the ground at a palace? That is not all. He has never even asked out his first love, Yoon Ju, because no regular man would be enough for her. Why does he keep falling for everything and everyone he cannot have?

So, he just lives on, having accepted humans are destined to simply let history do its work with people. But something special happens. Lee Seol, who always submitted her papers late but did two male students’ worth of labor on site, has become the princess. And she has asked him to be the advisor for the Restitution Committee of Royal Cultural Properties. He thought Lee Seol was just a young student, but here she is, saying they write a new history. He can hear his heart pounding.
