REVIEW: Gerstel Non-Alcoholic

Type: Pilsner ABV: 0.5% Grade: B

Brewery: Gerstel Country: Germany

This is Germany’s first non alcoholic brewery and was launched in 1977. Leading the pack and standing the test of time it is now found globally despite still being brewed in a microbrewery in Mannheim. They don’t heavily market themselves and you need to be in the know to have heard of this one (or just a non-alcoholic beer fan).

Packaging: Classy looking can with some old school charm.

Smell: Super corny smelling beer with some malt shining through.

Sight: Huge head, but surprisingly no sparkle to this. Very pale straw colour.

Taste: Subdued hoppy flavour with some hints of toffee.

Feel: Very light mouth feel and lacks the punch of carbonated beer.

Pleasure: This is a very reasonable priced beer and punches above its weight. Whilst not being incredibly amazing in any one way. It is still a beer that doesn’t disappoint and would be a complement to most meals in particular those with a very strong flavour.
