which
is
a
shopping mall with full of ancient Egypt’s design style and carvings around the shopping mall’s facade and interior.
MAIN FUNCTION The mall consists of several shopping precincts, which are Fashion Central, Oasis Boulevard, Asian Avenue and Marrakesh and comprises over 900 outlets, ranging from fashion, accessories, shoes, jewellery, timepieces, music, videos, gifts, souvenirs, leathers, books, pharmacies, electrical products, home furnishing, wellness to one-stop IT centre.

PHILOSOPHY OF DESIGN THE LION HEAD The lion standing guard at the entrance, is one of the ancient Egyptian mythical creature, Sphinx, a human head with a lion body according to the Encyclopedia Britannica, 2016, however based on the picture, the lion statue has a body and face of a lion instead of a Sphinx, which probably is to substitute the actual Sphinx which the architect were inspired by the Egyptians, or to give a bigger impact as an iconic landmark in the area, where people will refer the shopping mall with the lion statue or the lion head.
HIEROGLYPHICS The hieroglyphics that were being carved onto the columns or walls are being blindly copied. Hieroglyphics were created to record important events or verses from prayer rituals about the afterlife. Even though, the religion of the ancient Egyptians were no longer used today, their culture and their way of life still represent part of the crucial evidences of human thoughts and abilities. Ancient Egypt civilization has existed since 3500 B.C, which was also one of the earliest civilizations throughout history that should be respected as they have contribute so much with R E E today. PHILOSOPHY OF DESIGN MUD WALL A portrait massive structure characterized by thick, sloping wall that echoing a method of construction used to obtain stability in mud walls. THE SPHINX AND GREAT PYRAMID IS APPLIED IN MALAYSIA ARCHITECTURE, WHICH THE ARCHITECT IS THE EXTERIOR DESIGN OF THE SUNWAY PYRAMID SHOPPING MALL. THE OUTLOOK OF THE BOTH PYRAMID IS THE SAME, ITS INCLUDED THE CRITERIA OF SMOOTH SURFACE, IS A EQUALLY SIZE FOR THE 4 SIDE OF THE SQUARE SURFACE, SLOPING EMBANKMENT WAS BUILT UP TO OR AROUND THE PYRAMID. WHICH THE PYRAMID STATED IN MALAYSIA IS NOT A PURPOSE OF STORAGE, BUT AN ENTERTAINMENT AREA.
THE FACADE OF THE BUILDING IS EMBELLISHED IN THE MONUMENTAL STYLE, COMPLETE WITH PSEUDOHIEROGLYPHICS DECORATIVE FEATURES, ALONG WITH NUMEROUS PHAROIC STATUES.

TWO SPHINX IS ALSO DISPLAYED IN FRONT OF THE PYRAMID SAME AS EGYPT SYMBOL OF A GUARDIAN FOR THE PYRAMID AND WELCOMING VISITORS AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE

OBVIOUSLY, THEY HAVE THE SAME SHAPE WHICH IS PYRAMID. WHAT MAKES THEM DIFFERENT IS THE INSIDE OF SUNWAY PYRAMID IS NOT AS COMPLICATED AS THE TRADITIONAL ONE, AS THEY ARE CARRYING DIFFERENT FUNCTION.
S P H I N X THE LION STANDING GUARD AT THE ENTRANCE, IS ONE OF THE ANCIENT EGYPTIAN MYTHICAL CREATURE, SPHINX, A HUMAN HEAD WITH A LION BODY. WALLS, AS WELL AS THE COLUMNS AND PIERS,
FLAT ROOF THE MAJORITY OF THE ROOF IS FLAT, WHICH HAS HISTORICALLY BEEN WIDELY USED IN THE MIDDLE EAST. FLAT ROOFS CAME INTO WIDESPREAD USE IN EUROPE AND THE AMERICAS IN THE 19TH CENTURY, THE USE OF STRUCTURAL STEEL AND CONCRETE MADE THEM MORE PRACTICAL.

MATERIALS USED GREAT PYRAMID OF GIZA IS MAINLY BUILT WITH STONE BLOCKS WHICH IS DEFINITELY GOING TO BE A MAJOR PAIN. LUCKILY, USING TODAY'S TECHNOLOGY, THERE IS A MODERN WAY AND WE WOULD DEFINITELY GO WITH CONCRETE.

GLASS IS USED EXCESSIVELY THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING IN WINDOWS, DOORS, DOMES, BENCHES, RAILING AND CURTAIN WALLS
ALUMINIUM FRAMES ARE USED AT THE MASSIVE WINDOWS PLACED ALL ALONG THE FACADE OF THE BUILDING ON THE GROUND FLOOR

THE SPHINX
- One of the largest single-stone statue in the world
THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE SPHINX INCLUDED THE MATERIALS LIKE REINFORCED CONCRETE, STEEL FRAMES, AND PLASTER. THE SCULPTURE IS A HOLLOW STRUCTURE FORMED BY THE SHAPING OF A SERIES OF STEEL FRAME INTO THE LION'S BODY AND HEAD.
FOLLOWING THE STEEL SCAFFOLDING TECHNIQUE, THE CONCRETE WAS CASTED ONTO THE STEEL FRAME WITH THE SUPPORT OF TEMPORARY SHEETS TO HOLD THE CONCRETE. ONCE THE CONCRETE DRIED, THE STATUE OF THE SPHINX WAS FINISHED WITH A PLASTER AT THE JOINTS AND ON THE WHOLE STRUCTURE. THE EYES OF THE LION ARE FIXED WITH THE HUGE GLOWING BULB NIGHT. CREATE AN EMPHASIS ON THE FACE AT NIGHT.

because of the greater surface area available which reduces the weight of the overall beam developing more efficiency in construction and experiencing more significant inertia in the hollow beams makes it stronger. The second slage involved crafting of the beams. The

beams are cut up to the required length and at a specific angle to be welded togelher to form a triangle. The pyramid is an isosceles triangle erected at an angle of 45 degrees at the base. Following the scaffolding technique, the each side of the pyramid is joined together by a larger triangle that

is formed by a series of squares and triangles at the corner, The series of squares is welded to a straight beam crossing right across at 45 degrees to the square dividing it into two equal triangles.

After the final welding, the beams are galvanised with a coat of paint to preserve it from rusting. In the finishing stage, the steel frame is covered with

steel sheets coated with waterproofing material and coloured dull reddish orange to resemble the desert sand. The rest of the building was constructed using cranes and scaffolding technique.
