Your visit to Melaka is never complete if you did not take the 45 minutes cruise down the historic 9km long Melaka river (‘where all begins’) …

It was along this banks of the Melaka River where Parameswara, the prince who somehow found himself in Melaka (who was mesmerized by the bravery of a white mouse deer fighting off his dogs) decided to establish his new empire here…. However for this visit to Melaka, I took a way different cruise from the regular one… For this trip, we boarded the VIP boat, Mendam Berahi boat fron the Taman Rempah Jetty…

As usual we had to under go all the New Normal SOP, from temperature taking, Social Distancing and hand sanitization.. But it was all done  pretty well…

The meals are freshly prepared and served on board by attentive crew members, and  there was a couple of crew members that entertained us with their antics and amazing vocals that really made our evening a truly indulgent and unforgettable evening

For our dinner, we had the Ikan Bakar set which consisted of baked barramundi wrapped in banana leaves (ikan siakap bakar), squid in some sambal, prawns and clams… For dessert, we were served some fruit rojak and what I think is a kuih Beko from Kelantan…

This came with a free flow of cordial and a bottle of mineral water..

Among the sights we saw were Malay Village of Kampung Morten, the Villa Sentosa, mangrove swamp, the Shore Sky Tower,  and various beautiful murals on buildings as well as the  Middleburgh Bastion… We also went under various historical bridges… The view at night was truly breathtaking with neon and colourful lights at every corner, and enjoying the balmy evening breeze was truly a priceless experience especially when you are with friends and people you love…
