The creators of Zindagi’s original show Barzakh, starring actors Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed, unveiled the poster of the show in Lille, France, prior to its world premiere at the Series Mania Festival. Asim Abbasi, who also directed Zindagi's first original Churails and the feature film Cake, is the director of Barzakh. Barzakh has the distinction of being the only South Asian series chosen. The series will make its debut in the International Panorama section of the festival, where it will compete for the best series, director, actress, actor, student jury, and audience awards.

Barzakh, a family drama about an elderly man's search for love, delves into intergenerational trauma between fathers and sons. The story is set in a fantastical world filled with supernatural beings and otherworldly events that reveal the gaps between life, death, and rebirth.

Fawad Khan plays the role of a single parent who is charming but also filled with remorse for something he has lost.

Since its inception in 2010, the Series Mania festival, held annually in Lille, has been instrumental in recognising and curating the best series worldwide. Under one roof, the festival brings together the best screenwriters, directors, and artists.

Asim shot this series in Karachi and Pakistan's picturesque Hunza Valley. Barzakh explores themes of love, loss, and reconciliation while blending magical realism and supernatural fantasy in a family reunion setting.
