K-pop singer Son Ga-in and actor Joo Ji-hoon have broken up after being together for three years.

Following reports Friday morning that claimed Son and Joo had split up, both sides confirmed the reports later in the day.

Keyeast Entertainment and Mystic Entertainment, Joo and Son’s agencies, respectively, said Friday, “It’s true that the two broke up. When they broke up is still unclear, and we ask for your understanding that we can’t provide any further details regarding their breakup as they are private matters.”’

Son and Joo started to publicly date in May 2014, shortly after Joo starred in Son’s music video for “Fxxk U” in January the same year. However, rumors that their relationship was on the rocks started to spread after Son was not seen in public, though she explained that it was due to pneumonia, an anxiety disorder and insomnia.

Son was also recently involved in a police investigation over her claim that an acquaintance of Joo had offered her marijuana. In June, Son took to Instagram to claim that Joo’s friend, surnamed Park,
suggested she smoke marijuana, posting a screen-captured photo of messages between the two. She also revealed that she was receiving psychiatric treatment.

Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency subsequently launched an investigation and questioned Son and Park.

Park was recently declared innocent of all charges.
