Fried Yee Mee

My comfort meal is FRIED YEE MEE. I love the Malaysia cantonese and hokkien yee mee but staying abroad, I only get to eat it only during my holiday back home. I was so happy that I was able to get the yee mee noodle in Chinatown . Although it is not the same as the Malaysia yee mee, this is the closest to satisfy my craving…hahaha. OK, shameless here, I also like my version yee mee very much…It is really yummy and my family loves it. Hubby said I can officially called it my signature dish……ok ok I will cook more yummy food for him… hahaha.

Method :

A. Heat 3tbsp of oil. Fry 1 tsp of mince garlic and ginger till light brown. Add straw mushroom+cabbage+carrot and stir-fry for 3 minute.

B. Add 3 cups of hot water + 2tbsp oyster+ 1 tbsp soya sauce+ 1tbsp dark sauce + salt n pepper to taste. Add the yee mee keep turning noodle till soft. Cover wok and simmer on low fire for about 5 mins. Keep adding a bit of water till noodles is soft.

C. Once noodles is soft, add 1 egg and mix well. Ready to serve.

Variations:

  • VEGETARIAN: Use vegetarian ‘oyster’ sauce (mushroom extract) to make the dish completely vegetarian.
  • MEAT: You can add shredded chicken or other red meat to the dish if you wish.

Enjoy.
