The Darkest Crow

I have read Chapter 148, and do you think Soma has matured in a dark way? Cause you know, he was a up-and-going, charitable and kind-hearted prince who was once a spoilt brat. And right now, he is traumatised after losing his butler Agni and has become vengeful. However, he still has a hint of his charitable heart when he gave his necklace to a street urchin to sell in exchange for money just enough to buy food for his family.

After everything that has happened to him, do you think it is highly unlikely for Soma to revert back to his naive self? Cause losing Agni really has taken a toll on him and he will stop at nothing in order to put Agni’s killer to justice, even if it means he ends up becoming a murderer. Do you think he’ll eventually realise that o/Ciel has a twin brother? And r/Ciel is the perpretor to assumingly murdered Agni? I really can’t wait for Chapter 149 now!

I believe – or rather I hope – that this is just a temporary state for Soma now.

His anger is understandable right now. He lost the person who was closest to him, who he thought would always stay by his side and who was more of a family to him than his relatives ever were. And what’s worse is that he believes that the person he called his brother and friend is responsible. Soma not only grieves for Agni, he also feels betrayed by our Ciel.

I think that Soma will learn the truth about real Ciel eventually. So many people know now and on his path of revenge I think it’s likely that he will cross paths with real Ciel. The question is whether it will be too late then. If Soma attacks real Ciel Undertaker (or Polaris or whoever that knife guy was) could intervene and if he attacks our Ciel Sebastian (or the other servants) would stop him. And even if Soma survives and realizes the truth it’s not certain that he’ll ever go back to how he was before Agni’s death.

However, I really hope Soma won’t stay on the dark path he now seems to be following. There have been many characters in Kuro who – after a traumatizing or radical cut in their lives – have chosen a dark path which led or might lead to their downfall (our Ciel, Madam Red, the circus members,…). Soma might be different though. He could be a character who shows us that there is an alternative. That – while he experienced a terrible loss and was close to losing himself – there is still a chance to go back. Of course things will never be the same for him but he could realize that revenge won’t change the situation and that it’s not worth destroying his life for it. Especially since this is not what Agni would have wanted for him.

And I think there’s still hope for him. We have seen much character development for Soma over the arcs. Right now we’re seeing a new side of him and for sure the events of the past chapters will leave their mark on Soma. But it’s not too later for him yet. In the current chapter he proved that he still cares and that there’s still good in him. So I believe that Soma will leave his path for revenge again and prove that one doesn’t need to dirty their hands to find closure. Or so I hope.

By the way, if Soma finds back to his cheerful self without having to take revenge that could also be a nice contrast to our Ciel’s choices. Maybe our Ciel would even start having doubts about his choice when seeing that there is another way than what he chose for himself…
