Edward Cullen is one of the main characters in the Twilight Saga written by Stephenie Meyer and is part of a clan of "vegetarian" vampires (drinking only the blood of animals) unlike others of their kind. He belongs to a family or "coven" of vampires called the Olympic Coven, but more commonly known as the Cullen family. During the course of the series, he falls in love with human school girl, Bella Swan, and gets her into a lot of trouble and life threatening situations because of this. He also has a book (Twilight) written from also written in his point-of-view by Meyer, named Midnight Sun.

Appearance and Personality[edit]

Bellas first sighting of Edward describes him as "lanky, less bulky, with untidy, bronze-coloured hair", although she later goes on to say that "his forearm was surprisingly hard and muscular beneath his light skin". He is also known as stubborn, charming and romantic. He also has topaz coloured eyes, which Bella says in the latter part of Twilight are the exact colour of his eyes, and this is exactly the reason. He is well educated, and has graduated high school many times, completing his time at Forks high in Eclipse. He also loves music - his bedroom wall is full of music CD's. He can play the piano very well, and composes a melody for Bella, titled Bella's lullaby.

Abilities[edit]

As well as having the basic vampiric qualities, (good looks, super-human strength and lightning fast speed, agility and indestructibility) Edward is also able to read the mind of every mind close to him; he can listen to what they're thinking as they are thinking it. The only exception to this is Bella, as she is what is described as a "shield", and this is very frustrating for him.

Family[edit]

Edward is the adopted son of Carlisle and Esme Cullen and adopted brother of Emmett and Alice Cullen, and Jasper and Rosalie Hale. In Breaking Dawn, he also becomes husband to Bella, son-in-law to Charlie Swan and Renée Dwyer and eventually father to Renesmee Cullen.

Enemies[edit]

Edward makes a couple of enemies because of the threat they pose to Bella, some of which include James, Victoria and to some extent, the Volturi.

Casting[edit]

Robert Pattinson was cast to play the part of Edward Cullen on screen in the movie interpretations of Twilight (2008), New Moon (2009), Eclipse (2010) and Breaking Dawn.
