Kelly Ripa wasn't kidding when she famously said she "loves trolling a troll." The latest proof: She fired back at an Instagram commenter who claimed she was "too old" for husband Mark Consuelos.
On Monday, the Live With Kelly and Ryan host did not mince words when a troll came for her, solidifying herself a spot alongside Chrissy Teigen and Blake Lively as one of the greatest clap-back queens of our time. “@kellyripa yes he is so handsome but you need to go Kelly you look to old for him sorry but you do,” the troll wrote on a post on Consuelos's Instagram account, People reports. (Not that it matters, but Ripa and Consuelos are both 47 years old.)
Ripa fired back, giving the troll a taste of their own medicine. “You need to learn how to spell the word too sweetie. As in you’re too stupid to be with my young, handsome husband,” she wrote. “Ps, he likes proper grammar as well you dope.”
This is hardly the first time Ripa has shown off her astute troll-trolling skills. When "fans" used a #tbt post of hers as an excuse to question whether she'd gotten a nose job or veneers, she quickly put them in their place. "I’m gonna tell you right now. No nose job, and no veneers. I wouldn’t be sleeping in a retainer every night if i had," she wrote. "You guys do know how to make a girl feel special."
Earlier this year, Ripa was age-shamed yet again by trolls who said she was "too old" to be wearing a bikini (eye roll) in a photo Consuelos posted from their beach vacation. In that instance, he was the one to fire back in his wife's defense. “I posted this pic of the women I most admire. As a playful tribute to my wife who I’m proud of in endless ways,” he wrote in the comments section. “She works extremely hard in her professional life and her commitment to exercise, healthy diet is admirable and the benefits show. Yes she’s wearing a bikini at age 47 and will no doubt wear one for many years to come.”
Age-shaming, body-shaming, or any kind of shaming is never OK, and let this be a warning: If you come for Kelly Ripa, she (and Mark Consuelos) will come right back for you.
