Editorโ€™s Note: Watches & Wonders (formerly SIHH) has moved online and Baselworld 2020 is canceled, but that hasnโ€™t stopped watch brands large and small from debuting their new wares. Stay on top of this yearโ€™s best new watch releases here.

Produced in small batches by the high-end Japanese watchmaker Hajime Asaoka, Kurono-branded timepieces offer a more affordable take on his signature style. With an Art Deco flair, the brandโ€™s basic three-hand watch design now comes with a green dial in a limited run of just 50 examples to mark the brandโ€™s first anniversary.

Green seems to be the unofficial dial color of 2020, and here the brand has gone with a metallic finish that compliments the watchโ€™s design well. The color is referenced in the modelโ€™s name, Anniversary Green Mori โ€” mori meaning โ€œforestโ€ in Japanese. The brand uses โ€œthe same case and dial makers that supply to Grand Seikoโ€ and the watches are powered by the Miyota 90S5 automatic movement.

Each of the 50 Kurono Anniversary Green Mori watches is assembled by hand with a price of $1,790 and is sure to sell out quickly when orders open at 10:30pm Japan time on May 22nd, 2020.
