Where can I see the Black Giant Squirrel

The Black Giant Squirrel is a small squirrel that is native to India and has been known to inhabit the Western Ghats. The Black Giant Squirrel belongs to the genus Ratufa, which means "the largest" in Latin. Other members of this genus include Indian Giant Squirrels, which are slightly smaller than black giant squirrels.

In appearance, the black giant squirrel shares many similarities with other species of its genus, such as being coloured rufous-brown on its back and white or cream underparts. However a distinguishing feature of the black giant squirrel is its long tail around 1/3 longer than its body length, making it approximately 30cm in total body length. The tail assists with balance by acting as a counterweight when they hop from one place to another.
