Blake Lively just made quite the entrance to the Met Gala 2022. Of course, she is one of the official co-hosts of the prestigious event (along with her husband Ryan Reynolds) so really, we expected nothing less.

Blake certainly brought the drama. As one of the first arrivals, she stepped out onto the red carpet in a Versace Atelier gown, in a rich shade of pink with splashes of patinated bronze. She complimented the luxe dress with pink and gold shoulder-length gloves, a Statue of Liberty-inspired tiara by Lorraine Schwarz, and some aquamarine and rose gold earrings.

Not content with thoroughly upstaging her husband (who looked rather conservative – albeit dapper – in comparison), Blake then revealed another hidden layer to her extravagant gown. We told you this woman is extra!

With the help of three assistants, Blake revealed an additional train of turquoise and gold fabric, which added to the whole Disney princess vibe she had going on. Variety tweeted a video of the manoeuvre and – let's just say – it could have been slicker.

Still, the desired effect was achieved. Speaking to La La Anthony about the look, Blake Lively noted that the inspiration for her dress was the city of New York itself. Not only was her tiara inspired by the Statue of Liberty (it had seven spikes, which represent the seven seas, and 25 gems to match the 25 windows on the statue) but Blake also noted that the patinated detailing on her dress was a reference to the oxidised copper on the buildings of New York. The draped layers of the dress also alluded to the Statue of Liberty.

Everyone on Twitter was ~going off ~ about the whole look. One person tweeted, “in blake lively we trust [sic]” while another wrote, “blake lively will always understand the assignment” and another added, “if there’s one thing blake lively is gonna do it’s serve a look at the met gala.”

In her interview, Blake Lively also added that she's “shy” so she likes the dress to perform. Well, we think it succeeded, don't you?
