Santa Ana-based Allied Universal will host a career fair for security jobs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. May 7.

The hiring event will be held at the Garden Grove One-Stop Center at 7077 Orangewood Ave., Suite 200, in Garden Grove.

Allied Universal is seeking full-time and part-time security professionals. Qualified candidates must meet these requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Be at least 18 years old (21 years old for positions that require driving, with valid license)
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment background investigation and pre-employment drug/alcohol test
  • Customer service and communication skills

Dark Web explored

The South Coast Metro Alliance will host a seminar on the Dark Web Thursday, May 2.

Det. Daniel Holl of the Costa Mesa Police Department will explain the hidden portion of the internet often used for nefarious deeds and business dealings.

His presentation will focus on cryptocurrency, including Bitcoin, along with accessing the Dark Web through the anonymous web browser TOR.

The session is from 11: 45 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel Santa Ana/Orange County Airport located at 201 E. MacArthur Boulevard. Self-parking is free.

There is no cost for South Coast Metro Alliance members. Fee for nonmembers is $35 per person.Pre-registration is required.

Banks to merge

Anaheim Hills-based Credit Union of Southern California and Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai Federal Credit Union will officially merge Wednesday, May 1.

The newly combined organization, CU SoCal, will have more than $1.4 billion in assets, 18 branch locations, and serve more than 114,000 members throughout Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties, according to a statement from the banks.

CU SoCal President and CEO Dave Gunderson will continue in the same role of the combined organization. Cedars-Sinai FCU Manager Nor Kurasz will serve as branch manager.

Samsung center opens

Samsung Electronics America has opened its first Executive Briefing Center in California, just a few blocks from John Wayne Airport.

The 7,500-square-foot facility is a showcase of the company’s large-screen, digital displays, many of which are used in corporate settings. The EBC will work with Samsung customers to host meetings, events and workshops, the company said.

The center is the third briefing center for Samsung in the U.S. behind New Jersey and New York. It will be open five days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Autism awareness

JetSuiteX, a fixed-wing operator at John Wayne Airport, is putting autism awareness aboard its fleet of semi-private jets.

In partnership with Autism Double-Checked, the company is training and certifying its airport services team, crewmembers, pilots, and flight attendants on the travel needs of passengers with autism.

The training will cover key job components and all aspects of the travel experience, from safety to food and beverage, to the general needs of someone with autism – including potential stressors.

The company, which recently shifted its corporate headquarters to Texas, specializes in semi-private flights in California, Las Vegas and Seattle.

Milestones

The company engineers and manufactures miniature data-acquisition systems for crash test, blast protection and product testing.

Good works

A coalition of 17 nonprofits raised $832,068 in 24 hours during the third annual Help Them Home Giving Day. The money will help provide resources and relief for some 7,000 people who are homeless in Orange County.

The nonprofits that participated in the Help Them Home Giving Day included Casa Teresa, Families Forward, Thomas House Shelter, HIS House, Pathways of Hope, Build Futures, WISEPlace, Mercy House, Grandma’s House of Hope, Friendship Shelter, FAM Family Assistance Ministries, City Net, Family Promise of Orange County, South County Outreach, Project Hope Alliance, HomeAid Orange County and SPIN (Serving People In Need).
