"The Biggest Loser": More photos of Season 13 cast

How interesting that "The Biggest Loser" casting team decided to dip into the wrestling world again, after The Great Rulon Gardner Debacle of Season 11.

The good news for Season 13's Kim Nielsen, who wrestled professionally before breaking her back in a match and obviously putting on some weight, is that if she can just lay off the chips and the contraband on the ranch, she'll fare better than her Olympic predecessor.

There are plenty of intriguing characters in the new crew, but it's too early to get bogged down in bios. Let's just match names to faces for now, O.K.?

Yeah, it's probably too early for that, too. Oh, well. Here goes nothing!

PINK (strangers): Kim Nielsen (left) and Emily Joy. ...Emily is a Junior Olympic weightlifter. And these two are going to be competing against each other? Whoa. I guess we don't have to worry about Season 13 being male-dominated the way 12 was.

ORANGE (grandma/granddaughter): Nancy Rajala (left) and Cassandra Sturos. ...Looks like Cassandra is rushing the Kickass Dorothy sorority! I will have to ask Olivia if she passes muster; I am unqualified to judge.

GRAY (son/father): Chism (left) and Mark Corneilson. ...Does the kid remind anyone else of Jesse Atkins from Season 10?

PURPLE (mother/daughter): Kim (left) and Megan Stone. ...My money's on Megan to be Season's Hottest Girl at the end. Of course, she's on the Purple team, right? That fits.

GREEN (brother/sister): Jeremy (left) and Conda Britt.  ...These two are my early favorites. I base this on nothing but the appearance of fun personality. In other words, I base this on nothing.

BROWN (brothers): Ben, or "Buddy" (left) and Allen Shuh. ...Forgive me if I occasionally slip and call him Alvin instead of Allen. He is just so chipmunky!

AQUA (brother/sister): Adrian (left) and Daphne Dortsch. ...Big shoes to fill there, folks. Right, Courtney and Marci?

BLUE (brothers): Joe (left) and Mike Messina. ...Italian stallions! Definitely looking forward to their transformations. Which now, of course, means they will be the team that "doesn't make it on the ranch." Yes, there is such a team.

YELLOW (mother/daughter): Lauren (left) and Gail Lee. ...The season preview clips indicate that Gail is a real spitfire. I wonder if Lauren secretly will be glad to be forced onto the opposing team.

RED (wife/husband): Christine and Roy Pickler. ...They're shown separately, which sounds like something you hear in a toy commercial. Pretty appropriate for Santa and Mrs. Claus, no?
