Lee Seung-gi and Lee Da-in are dating: 4 things K-drama’s hottest new couple have in common, from their love of golf to brand endorsements and a unknown family connection
On Monday, May 24, K-pop and K-drama sites were full of news about a relationship between actor and singer Lee Seung-gi and actress Lee Da-in. This caught many fans off guard as they had never been linked before and seemed to have nothing in common, but the couple quickly acknowledged their relationship in a statement.
Trawling through social media archives, we went as far back as 2013 to see what might have brought the two celebs together. Here are a few things that caught our eye.
They are golf lovers
Seung-gi is widely known to be a golf lover; Soompi even reported that he has been confirmed for an upcoming golf variety show on SBS. In one episode of SBS’ Master in the House, he was also seen impressing South Korean golfer Park Se-ri with his swing.
Da-in also posted about playing golf with family on her Instagram a few times. According to Sports KyungHyang, both found each other attractive after realising they share golf in common.
Their ideal types match
In 2018, Seung-gi described his ideal type on SBS’s My Ugly Duckling: “I want someone I can talk to, and someone who makes my heart flutter while also making me feel stable.” Apparently his taste has changed over the years, as he added, “In the past, I was specific about the person’s appearance or personality. But now, I don’t have those kinds of [ideals].”
In 2020, Da-in shared that her ideal type was someone “with a nice personality and someone who expresses his feelings to her well” during an interview with Bntnews. She added that she doesn’t put appearance as the top priority – which is just what Seung-gi said.
We should also remember that Dong-A Ilbo has called Seung-gi “good husband material” – he is widely seen as the kind of person who will definitely get a nod from the bride’s family because of his personality.
Lee Da-in’s sister and Lee Seung-gi were in the same drama
If you’re not familiar with the name Lee Da-in, then how about her sister Lee Yu-bi? The Lee sisters make up a celebrity family along with parents who are both actors too. Their biological father is Im Yeong-gyu while Yu-bi’s mother, and Da-in’s step-mother, is Kyung Mi-ri who is also popular for her cosmetic brand.
They were both in ads for drinks
Being in advertisements is really common for celebrities. But those for drinks are a bit different – especially for water and sports drinks, where brands want stars who have a clean and kind vibe.
It seems the Lee-Lee couple fit the bill: in 2014, Da-in was the model for Pocari Sweat and Seung-gi advertised Jeju Samdasoo in 2018.
