The DNA test results are in and MICHAEL (40s) is positive for Clown Syndrome, an extreme form of coulrophobia. This malady layered upon his obsessive-compulsive behaviors provides the framework for a wild ride as his wife MARLA (40s) and daughter CAITLIN (teen) rally to respond to this dreaded syndrome. DOCTOR KEEGLE (20s) treats Michael with a rare and risky remedy involving a serum consisting of ancient mime maxims in an attempt to prolong his life. In a fit of despair, Michael attempts to take his own life by asphyxiation with radon. Rescued by Caitlin and with Marla’s encouragement, he fights on. Hope arrives in the form of a botched diagnosis. It turns out Michael is genetically a clown. Tragically, this news arrives while Michael attends his first Clown Syndrome support group meeting where his clown talents surface for the first time and many die laughing. He is convicted on multiple counts of aggravated murder, a conviction that is later commuted to a lesser sentence when the courts take into account his difficult childhood. As a youth, Michael was once slapped silly. The family is forever challenged and changed by this parade of hilarious situations.
