PAS wishes all Hindus a Happy Deepavali

PETALING JAYA: PAS wishes all Hindus a Happy Deepavali and a safe celebration, says PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

In a statement on Saturday (Nov 11) Takiyuddin said that the wishes also go out to Sikhs and Jain followers as they too celebrate Deepavali.

"Deepavali is a manifestation of our multi-religious and multi-cultural society, with its own attractions and significance in forming the big culture of Malaysia.

"The celebration of 'a line of lights' symbolises the victory of light over darkness, truth over falsehood, justice over evil, and the victory at the end will for those with light and the truth," said Takiyuddin.

He said that Muslims are also enjoined by their faith to ensure light triumphs over darkness and to defeat falsehood.

"PAS prays that the celebration will be harmonious and safe without any untoward incidents, especially with our thoughts going out to those travelling on the roads. Happy Deepavali and Happy Holidays," said Takiyuddin on behalf of PAS.
