Lee DeWyze will perform Friday at Altar Bar in Pittsburgh.

Just 2 1/2-years after being crowned an "American Idol," Lee DeWyze will entertain Friday in a Pittsburgh bar.

That's showbiz.

DeWyze, the season nine "Idol" champ will perform at Altar Bar in the Strip District, showcasing his Midwestern charm and songs from his 2010 album, "Live It Up" released by former label RCA, and a soon-to-be-released album he describes as progressive indie-folk.

Showtime is 7:30 p.m. with tickets $20 at the door. The warmup act is Pittsburgh singer Tony Cenname.

A rundown hotel, a blues bar, an old toy store, and a Gothic cathedral are as good of places as any to set a Christmas story.

Or so goes the thinking with Trans-Siberian Orchestra, which will perform its "The Lost Christmas Eve" rock opera Sunday for the first time in Pittsburgh.

Showtimes are 3 and 7:30 p.m. at Consol Energy Center.

Since it's TSO, count on pyro, sizzling violins and blazing guitars as part of a hard-rock and classical music mash-up. The first set features the New York-set "Lost Christmas Eve" story. The second half features live favorites and new music from TSO's latest EP. Tickets are $32.50 to $72.
