Latest Google Pixel 8a specs leak corroborates previous rumors, reveals new color name

The specifications of the Google Pixel 8a, expected to launch on May 14, have surfaced multiple times, telling us what to expect from the smartphone. These are now corroborated by the folks at Android Headlines, who leaked the full specs of the Google Pixel 8a.

For starters, the Google Pixel 8a will be powered by the Tensor G3 and pack a 6.1" FullHD+ OLED display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. However, the screen refresh rate and peak brightness get bumped from the Pixel 7a to 120Hz and 2,000 nits, respectively.

The typical battery capacity will also increase from 4,385 mAh on the Pixel 7a to 4,492 mAh on the Pixel 8a, which could be marketed as 4,500 mAh. The source claims Google will advertise this as having up to 24+ hours of endurance or up to 72 hours with the Extreme Battery Saver mode. The smartphone will also support Qi wireless charging.

Previous leaks said the Google Pixel 8a will get seven years of security updates, but the source claims the Pixel 8a will get not only seven years of security updates but OS upgrades and feature drops as well.

The Google Pixel 8a's camera system will be the same as the Pixel 7a - 64MP primary with OIS, 13MP ultrawide, and 13MP selfie. However, it will have new camera features, including Magic Editor, Best Take, and Ultra HDR. It will also come with Night Sight, Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Portrait Light, Portrait Mode, and Audio Magic Eraser.

The Pixel 8a will be offered in four colors - Obsidian, Porcelain, Bay, and Aloe, which was previously rumored to be called Mint. The smartphone will have 128GB and 256GB storage options, priced at $499 and $559, respectively.
