What Liverpool signing Romelu Lukaku instead would have meant for Peter Crouch

Liverpool have had a quiet transfer window compared to their title rivals, but former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has hit out at critics and admitted the Reds tend to avoid big money purchases

Klopp 'can't wait' for Liverpool to play in front of full Anfield

Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has hit out at critics of Jurgen Klopp's squad.

The Red's raced into an early lead through Diogo Jota before Mane doubled the lead in the second half when they faced Burnley on Saturday lunchtime.

However, some fans have been left disappointed with the lack of big signings by Klopp on Merseyside this summer.

Liverpool have only secured the signature of RB Leipzig's centre-back Ibrahima Konate this summer, and fans have been clamouring for more arrivals.

But Crouch, who was appearing on BT Sport, has hit out at fans who are wanting more from Klopp this summer.

"When a player walks through the door, Lukaku, Varane at Man Utd, if they signed Lukaku [Liverpool] we’d be saying they’re front runners for the title," Crouch said while pitchside at Anfield.

"The fact they haven't signed anyone, they haven't gone out and gone for someone a galactico type player, we’re thinking maybe they can’t.

"But this squad has the ability to be in the conversation at the end of the season."
