February 19, 2024This BTTF DeLorean is one of the best set Lego has created. The designers have recreated the subtle and iconic shape of the DeLorean to its utmost near perfection despite a few flaws. It is immensely a satisfying build experience. However in my case I took it up a notch higher by adding a few extra interior details that was was challenging due to restricted space but really rewarding.
What I added was the following:-
1. Behind the driver seat, a field containment system (Christmas tree) with the fire extinguisher
2. Behind the passenger seat the time circuit panel with Torin blower
3. Bottom floor - added some tiles and foot pedals
4. Centre console - added two extra printed pieces (slope and tile) and replaced the the gear stick with mic, better scale representation.
Lastly my other gripe was the use of mostly off-colored pieces that just looks awful underneath the car. Thanks to some Lego Youtubers, I was able to replace many off-colored parts with mostly grays and black and this gives a more polished clean look. The designers seemingly attempted a good job but dropped the ball in few areas. Overall, a brilliant construction model for display.
Amazing but let down slightly by minifigs

January 28, 2024I bought this set at a local retailer recently and really enjoyed putting it together. The details are great, the shaping is nice, the trans-light blue is a nice touch, and the hover mode mechanism was pretty satisfying to build. My main complaints are two-fold:
Firstly, while the printing on the minifigs is fantastic, I feel it somewhat lazy that Lego re-used a Han Solo head for Marty so it doesn't really look much like Michael J. Fox. Also I wish Doc Brown had a more neutral or upbeat face instead of just panicked and visor, though the visor is nice.
My second complaint is that the Flux Capacitor sticker was tucked so tightly into the corner of the envelope the stickers and instructions came in that it didn't come out even when I dumped the envelope over, so I just assumed it wasn't there and requested a replacement, which took two whole weeks to arrive and even then it got stuck in the corner so I almost didn't know it was there. I had to rip apart the envelope just to find it. I think such an important sticker should have either had its own packaging or the stickers should have been in their own packaging.
Apart from these gripes the set is very well done overall.
Trasforms Your Back To The Future DeLorean.....You won't regret it!

February 1, 2024I was a bit sceptical about purchasing this kit as I am not best known for my patience when it comes to small fiddly things but as long as you take it step by step and take it slowly it was not an issue at all…..and my god it really brings this kit alive, it looks amazing! Trust me, if I can do it, so can you!
I was very surprised how the wires between the bricks really don’t upset the look of the model, I had a feeling things wouldn’t seat back correctly but this was not the case at all, everything went back together perfectly. Only point worth mentioning is that if you have the kit with the light up wheels, you will not be able to roll the wheels anymore. This doesn’t bother me as in ‘hover mode’ the Delorean looks fantastic.
I buy Lego every Christmas, to do with the kids. I already have next years kit (Ecto 1) and will be purchasing the light kit for that as well as it makes such a difference! If you are considering this kit, go for it, you won’t be disappointed.
TIP: For ham fisted people like me I recommend having some tweezers on standby, they came in very handy for me.
Frustrating build

March 6, 2024I've never written a review but I was just disappointed with this build I felt I had to express my opinion. Many steps in this build were baffling and made the process difficult. For example, the entire rear chassis of the DeLorean is super detailed but the instruction have you build some of the exterior parts before the interior parts which creates a frustrating experience when you try to complete the whole rear. Further, the decal for the flux capacitor is on a separate sheet by itself then the other decals. So, of course, I couldn't find it for like 3 days. It slid inside the box and I located it but I do not understand why Lego didn't just put all 14 decals on one sheet. Why put 13 and then 1 separate? The positives are its super detailed and cool looking with the ability to conform the time machine to the movie of your choosing. I just don't understand the mechanics behind the directions. I wish that was more user friendly.
